What's the Gricd Frij?
Frij is an easy to use nanotechnology based device that complements the use of locally available material to improve the shelf life of farm produce and other temperature sensitive items.
The system is accurate, affordable, automated and easily interfaces with existing ERP, WMS and TMS systems via readily available APIs communicating environmental factors and other relevant information.
Gricd Frij Applications
The Gricd Frij aims at tackling cold chain problems across two broad sectors which are Agriculture & Healthcare
Affordable, effective cold chain solution that fights Post Harvest Losses.
Over 85% do not have access to reliable cold chain solution. It is estimated that a quater of 1.4billion tonnes of food is lost due to lack of cold chain solutions (IoME, 2014).
Preservation of medical supplies and storage of vaccines during transportation
The Frij helps in preserving the potency of vaccines by providing the right storage temperature and other medical supplies which require certain temperature levels to remain potent.
The Gricd Frij can be applied in crop produce storage, dairy milk storage or household food storage.
1.4Billion Tonnes of perishable food is lost annually due to the lack of cold chain solutions
1.4 Billion tonnes of food is lost annually due to the lack of cold chain solutions. According to FIIRO, a farmer losses between 40% – 50% of farm produce. This loss leads to price hikes and continuous price fluctuations.
Over 85% Small Holder Farmers in Nigeria don't have access to cold chain solutions
Small Holder Farmers are in Nigeria. 85% without access to cold chain solutions. Cooling and refrigeration rely on access to a reliable and affordable source of either electricity or diesel fuel which are often lacking or virtually non-existent in rural parts.
In the same vein, cold chain is required in the healthcare and the dissemination of one of the worlds most innovative solitons in healthcare- vaccines. Approximately 19.4 million infants do not receive routine immunization due to inadequate cold chain facility during transportation and storage.
Even scarier is the fact that 1.5million annual deaths could have been prevented if there were adequate cold chain storage facilities.
